Job Summary

Job Summary:

The CVOR Tech is responsible for providing support in the CVOR Main OR and Baylis day surgery settings. This includes preparing the operating room ensuring availability of necessary equipment and supplies and assisting the surgical team during procedures. The role requires on-call availability floating to different areas and adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

- Preparing the operating room with necessary equipment instruments and supplies.
- Assisting the surgical team during cardiovascular general and other surgical procedures.
- Ensuring aseptic technique and maintaining a sterile field.
- Handling and labeling specimens according to protocol.
- Operating and maintaining equipment such as electrosurgical units and case carts.
- Floating to Main OR or Baylis day surgery as needed.
- Participating in on-call duties including weekends.
- Adhering to isolation precautions laser safety sharps safety and universal protocol.
- Performing fire safety procedures.
- Documenting patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Coordinating equipment/supply needs and reporting malfunctions.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- BLS certification
- Experience in CVOR General OR Teaching Hospital and Trauma settings
- Skills in Aseptic Technique Isolation Precautions Laser Safety Sharps Safety and Specimen Handling/Labeling
- Knowledge of Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure
- Experience with Case Carts and Electrosurgical Units
- Experience with Fire Safety
- Experience with Aortic Aneurysm repair Atrial Septal defect repair Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR) Mitral valve replacement Pericardial window Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Experience with Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair Aortobifemoral bypass Aortoenteric fistula repair Arteriovenous fistula repair Carotid Endarterectomy Endovascular Aneurysm Repair Femoral popliteal bypass graft Laparoscopic assisted cases TEVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair) Vein Stripping
- Experience with Bronchoscopy EGD Laparoscopic assisted cases
- Experience with Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical Laparoscopic assisted procedures Whipple
- Experience with Laparoscopic assisted cases Lung resection- Thoracotomy Mediastinoscopy VASTS
- Experience with Amputations Gunshot/stab wounds MVA (multiple injuries)
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Experience in a Level I trauma center
- Experience in a Magnet hospital/facility
Special Considerations:

- On-call required once or twice a week and every third weekend.
- Must be in IL 3 business days prior to compliance HDD in order to meet fingerprinting requirements.
- Must be able to float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen week assignment without paying for the cancelled hours.
Scheduling:
- 4x10 Days (0615-1645)
- Discuss schedule requests with manager.
- Weekend on-call required every third weekend.
