A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a key member of the HPLC team this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

  • Quantitative sample analysis.
  • Preparation of data summaries for inclusion in client reports.
  • Execute the quantitative elution (extraction) and subsequent HPLC analysis of sorbent media (e.g. DNPH cartridges) for EPA Method TO-11A (Aldehydes and Ketones).
  • Analyze aqueous extracts of air filters and sorbent media for water-soluble species like anions and cations following methods such as EPA 300.0 or other applicable protocols.
  • Sample and standard preparation
  • Instrument calibration validation and method development
  • Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis equipment maintenance and data collected off site
  • Maintain consumables and parts for instruments
  • Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of or accuracy of analyses
  • Communicating relevant updates to applicable people in a timely manner
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the Company
  • Compliance with Enthalpys Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Compliance with Companys Health and Safety Plan

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

  • Associates degree or higher in Chemistry Biology Environmental Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Documentation timeliness and throughput must meet the standard of the laboratory.
  • They should be able to describe the operation of the instrument or the chemistry involved in the assays they perform.
  • Instrument maintenance and simple troubleshooting are skills that are present to at least a moderate degree.
  • Ability to multitask several instruments/projects simultaneously with minimal instruction

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Minimum 1-year hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting HPLC and/or IC systems
  • Experience with chromatography data systems (e.g. Agilent ChemStation/OpenLab Thermo Chromeleon
  • Strong practical understanding of chromatographic principles (e.g. mobile phase selection column chemistry).
  • Knowledge of analytical methods analytical instruments general lab practices and lab safety
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
