Title: Career Resource Center Career Advisor
Classification: Non-Exempt
Scope of Position
Supports the overall function of delivering outreach orientations and intakes; develops preliminary workforce career path plans; and supports ongoing delivery of career advisement and basic workforce services to job seekers across Welcome Center and Career Resource Center operations.
Essential Functions
Counsel motivate and encourage jobseekers in advancing employment training and retention goals and provide support in resolving issues that may impede successful job placement
Coordinate with programmatic Intake and Eligibility Specialists to conduct regularly scheduled intake and eligibility sessions across the CareerLink Lehigh Valley locations
Provide overview of available job search resources and workshops
Determine individual customer job readiness needs and employment and/or training focus
Assist with and monitors PA CareerLink registrations resume development and job applications
Identify and evaluate methods for improving program processes and services and make recommendations to the Career Resource Center Coordinator and Operations Manager
Conduct timely accurate and complete eligibility determination for program applicants
Ensure 100% eligibility verification of all program applicants prior to registration/enrollment
Assist staff in communicating eligibility criteria including packet/application submission and income verification
Develop demonstrate and maintain programmatic knowledge and competency in all of the above areas by utilizing internal and external policy as well as pertinent law regulations and legislation
Document all participant contacts and activities in case notes and ensure that contacts are made as required
Conduct job seeker interviews and consult in determining appropriate career pathway and assist with career planning
Assist with the mitigation of customer concerns
Support off-site events and CareerLink satellite site locations
Inform jobseeker of services available in partnership with PA CareerLink Lehigh Valley or other community resources and assist with appropriate referral
Ensure all community and job seeker resources are current and available
Operate a customer-centric environment and meet customer expectations
Monitor Unemployment Compensation participant flow
Document and prepare statistical monitoring and recording pertaining to Basic CareerLink services
Participate in staff meetings and development trainings

Education and Experience Requirements
Two years of professional experience in career counseling case management or a related customer service capacity
Excellent communication analytical and interpersonal skills
Bachelors degree is preferred or an acceptable combination of education and experience
Customer Service experience required
Must have clean driving record and reliable transportation
Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred
