DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Coordinator Speech Pathology prioritizes referrals assesses and develops and implements individual and group treatment programs to ensure optimum patient care for assigned caseload. Provides treatment to patients at multiple sites.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Masters Degree in Speech/Language Pathology. Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Speech Language Practitioner. Valid BC drivers license required.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated planning and instructional skills.
- Ability to organize individual and group treatment programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships other professional disciplines other hospital staff patients and their families and representatives from external agencies.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
