Job Summary

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Clear driving record required

Valid Texas drivers Class C license required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Must be familiar with all aspects of locks

Must be able to prepare bitting list

Experience:

Five (5) years of experience in related field preferred

Workdays: 242

Pay Grade: Auxiliary Pay Structure7

Pay Date: Monthly

Hourly Pay Range:

Minimum: $18.70

Midpoint: $22.26

Maximum: $25.82

Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Install and repair locks such as panic bars cylindrical locks file cabinet locks etc.

2. Repair or replace door closures and adjust as needed and install new door closures.

3. Re-key locks to individual sub-master and master keys.

4. Read schedules of locks provided by contractor and install cores according to lock schedule.

5. Make keying schedules or bidding list for re-keying of entire district.

6. Read keys by codes and able to use key cutting machine either by code or by duplicating machine.

7. Install and repair wood and metal doors and work on aluminum doors and locks for such doors.

8. Work from blueprints drawings and oral instruction as appropriate.

9. Use all carpentry and power tools in a safe manner.

10. Assist in maintaining inventory control of tools and supplies.

11. Comply with safety and hazardous laws and regulations in the performance of the job.

12. Attend meetings as required or directed by supervisors.

13. Work outside of regular assigned work schedule to repair and/or replace needed facilities to include night and/or weekend duty as requested.

14. Open repair and change combinations locks on safes and filing cabinets.

15. Maintain a list of all master keys belonging to District facilities.

16. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.

17. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
