Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced outpatient cardiology setting. This role assists licensed medical practitioners with patient care supports efficient clinical workflows and ensures accurate documentation while maintaining compliance with safety quality and confidentiality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare exam and treatment rooms with appropriate supplies and instruments
Room patients and prepare them for physician examinations and procedures
Obtain and accurately document vital signs in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Perform EKGs and other diagnostic testing as required and within credentialing scope
Conduct phlebotomy urine drug screens (UDS) breath alcohol testing (BAT) and other lab testing as applicable
Maintain complete accurate and confidential patient records and reports
Assist with billing and collection activities as needed
Utilize computer systems and office software to support clinical operations
Provide patient-centered care tailored to age culture language and special needs
Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers at appropriate literacy and developmental levels
Comply with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies competencies and standards of behavior
Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned
Required Skills & Experience
Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient clinical setting (3 years preferred)
Proficiency in:
Patient rooming
Vital sign collection
EMR systems
Phlebotomy experience preferred but not required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient environment
Knowledge of computerized systems and accurate data entry
Education
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift at least 5 lbs
Ability to push/pull at least 10 lbs
Ability to stand for a minimum of 6 hours per day
