Job Title: Registered Nurse Neuroscience Ambulatory Care

Location:Edison New Jersey (ZIP: 08818)
Schedule: Full-Time 5 days per week
Hours: 8-hour shifts (40 hours/week)
Shift Options: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM 5:00 PM
Weekends/Holidays/On-Call: None

Position Overview:An outpatient neuroscience program is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support a complex neurological patient population. This role functions as a direct caregiver and care coordinator working collaboratively with physicians interdisciplinary teams patients and families to ensure safe effective and individualized care across the continuum. The RN will manage patient assessments care planning education and follow-up in a fast-paced ambulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Registered Nurse delivers evidence-based nursing care in alignment with current policies standards and best practices.
  • Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments recognition of changes in clinical status development and coordination of individualized plans of care and implementation of age- and disease-specific interventions.
  • The RN communicates effectively with patients families providers and support staff ensures timely documentation within electronic medical records administers medications using barcode technology and supports safe transitions of care through multidisciplinary discharge planning.
  • The nurse also provides patient and family education triages patient calls manages medications and independently addresses clinical concerns using strong critical-thinking skills.
  • Ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes and appropriate intervention in response to changes in condition are essential aspects of the role.

Additional Responsibilities:The RN identifies ethical concerns promotes patient satisfaction maintains required competencies and certifications adheres to professional nursing standards and codes of ethics and complies with organizational policies and behavioral expectations. Physical requirements include the ability to lift push pull and stand for extended periods. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Candidates must be able to work independently adapt quickly to changing patient needs and demonstrate accountability teamwork and a strong patient-centered approach.
  • Required skills include nursing assessment critical thinking triaging patient calls and medication management.
  • Prior neuroscience experience is required with epilepsy and neurology experience highly preferred.

Education and Licensure:

  • An active New Jersey RN license is required. BLS certification is mandatory.
  • Candidates must have at least six months of relevant nursing experience or be active participants in a nurse residency program.
  • A BSN is required to be in progress or completed within three years of hire.

Practice Setting:Outpatient Neuroscience Ambulatory Care (Neuroscience Institute setting)
