Job Description: Middle School Nordic Ski Coach
Position Summary
The Middle School Nordic Ski Coach is responsible for developing organizing and leading a Nordic ski program that fosters students interest in cross-country skiing and outdoor recreation. The coach will work closely with students to develop their skiing skills sportsmanship and overall physical fitness.
Responsibilities
- Program Development:
- Design and implement a comprehensive Nordic ski program.
- Create engaging and challenging training plans and workouts that cater to students varying skill levels.
- Develop and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for students.
- Team Coaching:
- Mentor and guide student Nordic ski teams in preparation for competitions.
- Foster teamwork collaboration and sportsmanship among team members.
- Help students develop essential skills such as communication leadership and time management.
- Equipment Management:
- Ensure that all necessary equipment including skis poles boots and waxes is in good condition and properly maintained.
- Procure necessary materials and supplies for the program.
- Community Outreach:
- Represent the school and Nordic ski program at community events and competitions.
- Promote Nordic skiing and outdoor recreation within the local community.
Qualifications
- Experience coaching or mentoring youth in winter sports or outdoor activities.
- Strong understanding of Nordic skiing techniques equipment and training principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Passion for Nordic skiing and a commitment to fostering student success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience competing in Nordic skiing competitions.
- Certification in Nordic skiing coaching or instruction.
- Familiarity with the specific terrain and conditions of the local area.
- Experience working with grant funding and fundraising initiatives.
