LEAD RECESS SUPERVISOR:
Purpose: Holy Family Regional School is committed to providing a safe and orderly environment for students during non-instructional time periods on the playground during the lunch hour.
This is a part-time position of 10 hours per week between 11:45am and 1:45pm Monday - Friday while the school is in session; paid on an hourly basis.
The Lead Recess Monitor responsibilities and skills are:
The Lead Recess Supervisor will work as leader of the team supervising students from grades Y5 through Three at the North Campus
The playground supervisors are responsible for ensuring that the schools health and safety rules are followed for interacting with students and encouraging appropriate play and for managing student behavior working with teachers and administration where appropriate.
Applicants must be physically able to work outside throughout the year.
Applicants must be knowledgeable about student behavior and characteristics and have a repertoire of acceptable methods to redirect and control students.
They must have a nurturing yet firm demeanor and must be committed to ensuring student safety.
Organizational skills are needed since these supervisors often have several duties to perform simultaneously.
Organizational skills are required to maintain and organize volunteers at recess daily.
They must have very good communication skills in order to effectively communicate with students teachers and principals.
Previous experience working with students and knowledge of first aid is an asset.
