Central Tablelands Local Land Services is looking for a Travelling Stock Reserves Coordinator (SLSO) to assist the Invasive Species team with project management and the delivery of on-ground programs and advisory services for the management of animal biosecurity for the region and for surveillance and investigation activities as they relate to pest animal management.

The successful candidate will have excellent project management and communication/negotiation skills and will report to the Manager Biosecurity and Emergency Services

About the Role

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the Central Tablelands LLS in TSR management being responsible for project management contract development and budget oversight including phasing and project reporting
  • Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate and deliver relevant activities
  • Assessment and issuing of grazing permits
  • Management of maintenance/establishment of infrastructure
  • Coordination of pest animal and weed control
  • Liaising with other government agencies regarding use of TSRs
  • Managing and reporting on a budget to coordinate and oversee the planning and delivery of procurement and service delivery.
  • Records management
  • Oversee monitoring and compliance interpreting legislative instruments to guide decisions
  • Respond to Ministerial requests for information/responses to stakeholder correspondence

Key challenges:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to apply legislation and policies across diverse parcels of land
  • Balancing complex and fast-moving responsibilities where urgent issues may take priority
  • Working in a highly visible space amidst evolving industry and community expectations

About You

This is a role for someone who loves project management working with people and being out in the field.

To be successful youll need to have:

  • A sound knowledge of travelling stock reserve management and compliance as it relates to the relevant legislation
  • An understanding of biosecurity issues particularly as it relates to pest animal and plant management
  • The ability to make decisions in challenging scenarios managing industry and community expectations whilst operating in accordance with legislation
  • A Certificate IV in Government Investigations or the ability and willingness to successfully complete it
  • The ability to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under the LLS Act and the Biosecurity Actand the demonstrated ability to understand interpret and apply legislation and regulations.

Essential Requirements

  • A degree in agricultural environmental natural resource management biosecurity and emergency management and/or equivalent level of industry knowledge and experience
  • A current NSW Class C Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel (including overnight stays) as required
  • Ability and willingness to undertake a police check and medical clearance
