AECOM is seeking a Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer to support dam levee and other infrastructure projects as part of our industry-leading team. The successful candidate will play a key technical role in delivering projects that enhance the safety resilience and performance of critical infrastructure systems across the western United States. Youll work alongside junior and senior engineers and technical experts to plan and execute geotechnical investigations and analyses for a wide range of dam and hydropower facilities while also gaining exposure to all phases of project development and delivery. The responsibilities of this position are expected to encompass a broad range of geotechnical subjects depending on the skills and experience of the candidate such as:
- Plan subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes advancing CPTs and performing other insitu geotechnical tests at various sites throughout Northern California.
- Review and assess soil and rock samples for laboratory testing.
- Plan and supervise inspection of construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans specifications and construction standards.
- Perform engineering analyses including slope stability seepage settlement earth retention
- liquefaction and shallow and deep foundations.
- Perform seismic stability and deformation analyses of dams including earthquake ground
- motions liquefaction potential and earthquake-induced and fault-Induced deformations.
- Perform engineering analysis using Excel AutoCAD Civil 3D LPILE APILE GeoStudio Suite
- PLAXIS FLAC ABAQUS and MATLAB.
- Evaluate the expected seismic performance of dams levees outlet pipes probable maximum flood conditions.
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations using Microsoft Office software.
- Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work.
- Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
- California Engineer In Trainee (EIT).
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in Geotechnical Engineering Civil Engineering or related field.
- 4 years of related experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
