JOB DESCRIPTION North Orange Continuing Education ( NOCE ) a member of the North Orange County Community College District invites applications for Student Technology Support Services Hourly Employees in the Basic Needs Student Technology Support Services ( STSS ) program under the Counseling and Student Services Department. Under the direction of the STSS Coordinator Student Technology Support Hourly Employees assist students in accessing and using NOCEs technology resources and help support the laptop and hotspot loan program. This is an entry-level technical position that provides basic technology assistance to students in-person via phone text and email to ensure smooth daily operations within STSS . This is a temporary part-time hourly position that follows a schedule of 13 weeks on followed by 9 weeks off with the possibility of an additional contract. Student Technology Support Hourly Employees will: Provide basic technology assistance to students by responding to phone calls emails and in-person drop-ins. Help students sign in to school platforms (e.g. MyGateway Canvas). Support students in accessing their school-issued email and Microsoft applications. Walk students through setting up or updating their passwords. Assist students with one-time passwords ( OTP ) and two-factor authentication. Help students connect to campus Wi-Fi. Distribute laptops and hotspots to qualifying students including during peak periods such as the start of each semester. Prepare laptops for students by completing the initial setup process. Conduct outreach to students who need to return devices. Deliver friendly patient and professional support to NOCEs diverse student population including English as a Second Language learners.
Desirable Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Some post-secondary coursework or experience working in education customer service or technology support. Experience assisting adult learners or working in a school library or community resource center setting. Bilingual in a language representative of NOCEs student population (Spanish Korean Vietnamese Chinese Farsi or Arabic). Familiarity with Canvas Zoom or MyGateway platforms. Experience collaborating with faculty staff and/or community leaders in programs and / or initiatives that are specifically designed to assist historically underrepresented students achieve their educational goals
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED . Basic computer and internet proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook Word Excel Teams). Effective communication skills and a helpful student-focused attitude. Ability to follow written and verbal directions work independently and stay organized. Commitment to diversity. All applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students faculty and staff. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how their experience with these factors relates to successfully achieving the goals of the position.
