About this Job
OUR MISSION Our mission is to ensure the physical operational and financial integrity of the regional flood risk management system in southeastern Louisiana as a defense against floods and storm surge from hurricanes. We accomplish this mission by working with local regional state and federal partners to plan design construct operate and maintain projects that will reduce the probability and risk of flooding for the residents and businesses within our jurisdiction. ABOUT THIS POSITION Responsible for operating a tractor and related equipment to cut and maintain grass along the levees and flood protection structures on the East Bank of the Mississippi River which consists of Orleans St. Bernard and Jefferson Parishes. This ensures safe and effective vegetation control to support flood risk management visibility and accessibility of levee systems. Minimum Qualifications

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
The incumbent will work under the supervision of Levee Foreman A Levee Foreman B Levee Foreman C Maintenance Superintendent Operations and Maintenance Coordinator or the Maintenance Regional Director.
The incumbent in this position performs a physical effort to accomplish a variety of tasks in the Maintenance Departments of the SLFPA-E as follows:
- Operates one or more of the following types of equipment as a primary regular and recurring function of the job: field tractors with power ratings up to and including 125hp; tractors which may be equipped with attachments such as bush-hogs belly attachment blades loaders hoes flail mowers brooms and gang mower up to 21 feet across etc.; forklifts with lifting capacity over 10000 lbs. or lift height over 12 feet; if the incumbent has a current Class A CDL license may be required to operate bobtail and/or tandem dump trucks with rating capacity of 12 yards or less.
- May operate front end-loaders dump trucks and other equipment in the SLFPA-Es Right-of-Way.
- Required to operate any equipment enumerated for the Mobile Equipment Operator 1 Mobile Equipment Operator Light and/or Laborer when necessary to accomplish work objectives.
- Makes minor repairs to equipment and performs user maintenance necessary to keep equipment in clean good working order.

Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
