Job Summary
POSITION:Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Medical-Surgical
LOCATION:Rochester NY
SCHEDULING DETAILS & CHARTING
Shift: Night Shift 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Orientation: 16 hours
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday as needed
Charting System: EPIC (experience required)
Scheduling Requests (RTO/Block): Must be submitted at time of application
Call-Off Policy: Facility may cancel up to three (3) shifts during the 13-week contract without charge
First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Local Candidates: Accepted for LPNs
LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)
License: Active New York State LPN license (NY is not a compact state; pending licenses not accepted)
Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support)
EXPERIENCE & CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS
Experience: Acute care experience within the past 2 years
Must be able to take an independent patient assignment with RN support
Core Clinical Skills Include:
Vital signs pain assessment intake & output monitoring
Isolation precautions and use of physical restraints
Specimen collection and labeling
Oxygen administration via nasal cannula
Feeding tube management
Telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKGs
Medication administration: oral IM SQ NG/G-tube eye/ear drops
IV therapy using pumps
Blood glucose monitoring
Basic wound care (simple dressings JP/Hemovac drains)
Foley catheter insertion (male & female)
Clean-catch urine collection
Bathing and oral/mouth care
Communicating patient condition changes to RN/MD
Experience in Medical-Surgical / Telemetry care settings
UNIT DETAILS & FLOATING
Patient Population: Medical patients including COPD exacerbations infections failure to thrive and social-related admissions
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio (Days): 1:56
Floating: Required within skill set
Scrub Color: Navy blue and white (any combination)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
