About the opportunity
The International Student Support and Engagement Officer (ISSEO) plays a key role in advancing the Universitys mission to deliver transformative education for Tasmania and from Tasmania to the world. Based at the Australian Maritime College and working across all Centres this position provides comprehensive administrative cultural and pastoral support to a rapidly growing and diverse international student cohort.
This role will provide a first contact point and support for AMCs international students. Working under the leadership of the International Student Support team the ISSEO will ensure the needs of AMCs international cohort are connected to the Universitys broader advising engagement and wellbeing services.
What youll do:
- Coordinate international student onboarding and orientation support enrolment and visa compliance with UTAS Advising teams and maintain accurate records of student interactions and engagement.
- Provide first point of contact for AMC international students regarding academic processes wellbeing services and campus life.
- Maintain effective communication with University and community stakeholders collaborate with academic and professional staff.
- In coordination with the Student Engagement team develop and deliver initiatives that promote participation integration and belonging.
- Ensure compliance with UTAS and AMC policies while actively contributing to the ongoing improvement of administrative processes and documentation for international students.

- Demonstrated experience in providing administrative and/or student support in a higher education or similar environment.
- Strong intercultural communication and interpersonal skills with sensitivity to diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with colleagues across different teams and functions within an institutional environment to achieve shared goals.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in record keeping.
- Experience in event coordination student engagement initiatives or community liaison roles.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116872 comprising base salary within the range of $92120 to $99891 plus 17% superannuation.
