The Department offers BS degrees in Applied Physics and in Mathematics & Physics a minor in Quantum Technology and a newly approved MS program in Quantum Science and Technology launching in Fall 2026. Faculty in the department teach both introductory physics courses for engineering students and upper-level courses for physics majors.
An Industry Assistant or Associate Professors primary responsibilities include teaching mentoring and educational innovation with additional contributions to curricular development outreach and departmental service. While the standard teaching load is three courses per semester this position carries potential opportunities in program and curriculum development that could reduce this load.
In addition to classroom teaching the position includes a significant role in the development and delivery of a new Quantum Optics laboratory course to be offered for the first time in Summer 2027. This will involve:

We invite applicants with a strong record of teaching and hands-on laboratory development. You should be an excellent teacher in both classroom and instructional laboratory environments. A Ph.D. in experimental physics or a closely related discipline is required along with substantial on-hand experimental experience in optics photonics or quantum optics. A record of effective teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level and/or relevant industrial or professional experience is highly desirable.
