Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington is recruiting a Team Leader Employer Engagement to lead the delivery of employer engagement services that build relationships with employers and connect students to employment opportunities in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally.

This permanent full-time role sits within Te Pūrengi - Student Experience and Wellbeing alongside student services teams dedicated to student success.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the employer engagement team to deliver professional timely and student-centred employer engagement opportunities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of employers to understand and respond to their recruitment needs.
  • Oversee the planning promotion and delivery of employer presentations networking events and recruitment activities across the University.
  • Identify and share labour market trends recruitment insights and future of work developments including the use of AI in recruitment and the workplace.
  • Contribute to service development and the overall direction and culture of the Careers and Employment team.

You are an engaging and collaborative leader who enjoys building relationships and creating opportunities that support student success. You bring strong people leadership skills a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a passion for connecting students with employers in meaningful ways.

Key requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in careers employment recruitment or business development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to delivering inclusive high quality services for diverse student communities.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong employer relationships supported by knowledge of current recruitment trends and related technologies.
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience in problem solving planning and delivering team or project objectives.
  • Experience planning and delivering events with proficiency in Microsoft Office online career development tools and CRM platforms.
