The Scope
This role leads FSCs global social media communications programme shaping how the organisation shows up digitally in a way that is strategic creative and credible. The focus is on turning social media into a coherent future-oriented storytelling ecosystem that supports FSCs mission reputation and long-term narratives.
Working at programme level the role blends strategy editorial leadership and hands-on delivery while supporting regional offices and partners to ensure quality consistency and alignment across FSCs decentralised social media presence.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the redesign and ongoing evolution of FSCs social media communications programme moving beyond isolated channels to a joined-up purposeful digital presence.
- Define the role and ambition of social media within FSCs wider communications strategy with an emphasis on long-term narrative building over reactive posting.
- Set clear frameworks standards and governance for social media use across FSC balancing consistency with flexibility as platforms and audiences evolve.
- Provide creative and editorial direction shaping how FSCs work is presented digitally in ways that are engaging accessible and trusted.
- Develop repeatable content formats storytelling approaches and thematic series that make complex issues clear and build recognition over time.
- Work closely with subject-matter experts to translate technical scientific and policy content into compelling social media communications without losing accuracy or depth.
- Safeguard FSCs voice and editorial integrity across platforms formats and contributors.
- Coordinate a smart platform-aware distribution strategy that strengthens FSCs overall digital presence and reduces reliance on any single channel.
- Introduce and oversee the responsible use of digital and AI-enabled tools to support research planning and content creation while maintaining strong editorial judgement and creativity.
- Act as a go-to strategic partner for regional offices and network partners offering guidance tools and hands-on support.
- Develop and maintain practical guidelines templates and best-practice resources to enable high-quality consistent communication across the FSC network.
- Track and evaluate programme-level performance using insights to continuously improve FSCs social media communications.
Your profile
Qualification Experience and Skills:Education and Training: University degree in Communications Marketing Design Multimedia Digital Communication or a related field.
Working Experience Style and Skills:- Several years of professional experience in social media or digital communications atmid toseniorlevel.
- Experience redesigning social media activities in complex ordecentralizedorganizations.
- Demonstrated creative and conceptual thinking within institutional or mission-driven communications.
- Experience providing guidance and support across multiple social media accounts or regional teams.
- Strongorganizational planning and project management skills.
- Solution-oriented and service-oriented attitude to work.
- High levelof diligence accuracy and ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail as it relates to social content
- Digital and Platform SkillsStrong practical experience working in modern digital communication environments including social mediamanagementand publishing platforms content creation and adaptation tools analytics and insight dashboards and collaborative digital workflows. Confidence in working with evolving digital tools including AI-enabled systems to support research planning content development and editorial consistency is.
Communication Skills:- Native-level English is a requirement for this role.
- Other languages are a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relations.

The Fine Print
Location: Bonn Germany.
Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
Duration of Employment: Temporary contract 2 years (extension possible subject to satisfactory performance).
Starting Date: As soon as possible.
Travel: Sporadic travel is required.
