Job Summary: The Radiographer performs diagnostic radiographic imaging procedures in a hospital-based environment including the Operating Room Emergency Department and inpatient settings. This role requires advanced technical skills particularly in surgical and trauma imaging and the ability to function effectively in a Level II Trauma Center. The technologist operates fixed and mobile imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety image quality and adherence to radiation protection standards. This is a 13-week contract position with the possibility of extension working four 10-hour day shifts (7:30 AM 5:30 PM) with every third weekend rotation and required weekend and midnight on-call coverage.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic radiographic imaging in the OR IPD ER and other hospital departments using fixed and mobile imaging units.
- Support operating room procedures including neuro vascular percutaneous fusions and O-Arm imaging.
- Assist surgical and trauma teams in a fast-paced Level II Trauma Center environment.
- Position patients accurately to obtain optimal diagnostic images while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
- Apply radiation safety principles including ALARA standards shielding and dose optimization.
- Prepare and operate radiographic equipment ensuring functionality and reporting malfunctions as needed.
- Verify patient identity review physician orders and obtain relevant clinical history prior to procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure proper image transfer to PACS.
- Respond to on-call assignments including weekends and midnight shifts as scheduled (non-negotiable).
- Demonstrate excellent customer service professionalism and teamwork in all interactions.
- Comply with hospital policies infection control procedures and safety standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 3 years of Radiologic Technologist experience Required
- Operating Room experience Required including:
- Neuro procedures
- Vascular procedures
- Percutaneous fusions
- O-Arm imaging
- Willingness to take weekend and midnight on-call shifts Required (non-negotiable)
- Ability to work in high-acuity trauma and surgical environments
- Strong communication teamwork and customer-service skills
- Ability to lift/move equipment or patients occasionally exceeding 10 lbs
Education: High School Diploma or GED Required
Certifications
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Radiography R) Required
- Registry-eligible candidates must obtain ARRT certification within 6 months of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) Required
License
- ARRT Registration in Radiography Required
