Job Summary

Job Title: Registered Nurse Wound Ostomy Continence (WOCN)

Site: Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC) Gallup NM
Location: 516 E Nizhoni Blvd Gallup NM 87301

Duration: Initial 3-month contract with extension options in 3-month increments up to 1 3 years.

Shift Schedule: 8 12 hour shifts primarily days; weekends/holidays as needed. Schedule assigned by Nursing Supervisor.

How many shifts needed per month: Coverage is as scheduled by the department based on operational needs.

Credentialing / Onboarding time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks

License:

Current valid unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
License must be issued by a U.S. state DC Puerto Rico or U.S. territory

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Experience needed:

Minimum 3 years total nursing experience
At least 1 year recent experience in the specialty/department (Wound Care / Surgical / Ambulatory Clinic setting)

Special Skills needed:

Wound assessment ostomy care and continence management
Medication administration IV therapy venipuncture
Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation
Knowledge of HIPAA patient privacy and federal healthcare standards
Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with American Indian and Alaska Native populations
Ability to rotate across units when qualified and needed
Strong compliance with clinical protocols and infection control standard

Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care in wound ostomy and continence management
Perform nursing duties in both outpatient and ambulatory surgical settings
Maintain full compliance with IHS policies Joint Commission standards CMS requirements and ANA nursing standards
Complete all required competencies testing and annual validations
Ensure accurate timely and compliant clinical documentation
Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements
Participate in mandatory orientation cultural awareness training and facility-specific education
Follow Nursing Supervisor technical direction while remaining a non-personal services contractor
Maintain uninterrupted credentialing and certifications throughout the contract
