Job Description:
- Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses of the chemical and physical properties of diverse organic compounds to investigate their behavior in agrochemical formulations in support of the clients R&D pipeline and product portfolio.
- Applies standard concepts practices and procedures within a high-throughput analytical chemistry laboratory environment.
- Requires limited oversight and supervision to plan and accomplish diverse fast-paced analytical workflows.
- Performs routine and non-routine benchtop analytical tasks as requested by diverse customers and stakeholders.
- Works under general supervision and reports to a supervisor/manager.
- Must be creative especially under tight deadlines.
- Develops methods for determining chemical compositions of agrochemical formulations/products and related sample matrices using HPLC/UPLC/LCMS/GC to support the clients R&D pipeline and product portfolio.
- Conducts physical-chemical characterization techniques such as density particle size analysis viscosity surface tension contact angle thermal analysis by DSC/TGA optical/electron microscopy and FTIR/NIR/UV-Vis spectroscopy.
- Possesses experience with lab instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Communicates effectively with diverse/demanding customers/stakeholders across R&D manufacturing and product supply.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- We seek an enthusiastic team member with a strong Analytical Chemistry-related background relevant to chemical and physical analyses of agrochemical formulations and products.
- This individual will perform routine and non-routine analyses of active ingredients in liquid and solid formulations using HPLC/UPLC/LCMS/GC and varied physical-chemistry assay techniques.
- The successful candidate will be self-motivated and self-starting able to quickly adapt to rapidly changing analytical/scientific situations and possess strong communication skills and a passion for developing new skillsets.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The successful candidate will join the Analytical Sciences Hub (that operates within the clients Small Molecules Division) to support active ingredients analyses within R&D formulations and products.
- Respond to collaborator/partner inquiries and analytical/data troubleshooting/reporting requests in the timeliest manner.
- Be meticulous in their approach to analytical work and data quality.
- Prepare complex liquid and solid matrices for qualitative and quantitative analyses.
- Optimize and develop new sample preparation and analytical methods in support of R&D pipeline and existing products.
- Lead efforts to improve existing analytical methods and develop new analytical methods as needed.
- Write reports and interpret/report analytical results to diverse stakeholders representing early R&D to manufacturing and product supply.
REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES:
- BS in Analytical Chemistry or closely related field.
- Hands-on experience and demonstrated proficiency in preparing complex agrochemical sample matrices for analysis with HPLC/UPLC/LCMS/GC and physical-chemical techniques described above.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation.
- Experience with sample preparation and method development for chemical samples.
- Experience with sample cleanup techniques to enrich active ingredients in chemical samples.
- Experience with robotic sample preparation is desirable.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Timely/intelligent communications with our many/demanding customers/stakeholders are crucial.
- Self-motivated and self-starting.
- Agile and able to respond to rapidly changing analytical/scientific priorities.
