Schneps Media Long Island seeks anAssistant Managing Editor for Special Sections/Entertainmentfor its chain of local news outlets covering Nassau County.
TheAssistant Managing Editor for Special Sections/Entertainmentwill work closely with our Editor-in-Chief Digital Editor Reporters and Graphic Artists. The role will involve writing stories in our WordPress CMS to expedite the online publishing of stories and their placement in our pagination system. The editor will help make sure deadlines are met and workflow moves from editing to publishing and layout efficiently.
The qualified candidate is preferably a current Long Island resident has at least 3 years of experience working in a newsroom has strong digital skills related to WordPress optimizing stories and SEO best practices and is organized and works well with a team.
Main Responsibilities Include:
Writing real estate and home-related articles and special section and entertainment stories.
Editing and proofreading stories
Support the editor-in-chief with assignments and/or working with reporters
Coordinate with designers freelancers and the sales manager
