We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the day-to-day finance and bookkeeping activities of the business. This role is ideal for early-career finance professional with approximately 23 years experience preferably gained within an in-house finance team of a B2B product-based company.
The role focuses on transactional accounting and bookkeeping tasks payment processing supporting month-end processes maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring data integrity across accounting systems.
This position would suit someone who is detail-oriented organised and keen to develop a solid foundation in commercial accounting within a growing business.
What Youll Do
Youll be the kind of person who:
Day-to-Day Bookkeeping
- Process purchase invoices ensuring correct coding and timely posting
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Maintain accurate accounts payable records
- Process employee expenses claims in line with company policies
- Support basic accounts receivable activities including invoice checking and allocation of receipts
Banking & Reconciliations
- Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly
- Maintain clear audit trails for all financial transactions
Month-End & Reporting Support
- Assist with month-end close activities including:
- Accruals and prepayments (under supervision)
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Support preparation of basic management reports
- Ensure financial data is complete and accurate ahead of month-end deadlines
Systems & Data Management
- Maintain accurate financial records within the accounting system
- Ensure correct use of cost centres nominal codes and VAT treatment
- Support data integrity across finance systems and related tools
- Assist with system clean-up and data validation tasks when required
Collaboration & Finance Support
- Liaise with internal teams (sales service operations) regarding invoice queries
- Support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc finance and administrative tasks
- Assist with audit preparation by providing documentation and reconciliations
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and controls
Day-to-Day Activities (Summary)
- Processing invoices and expenses
- Reconciling bank and supplier accounts
- Updating accounting systems and records
- Supporting month-end close tasks
- Responding to internal finance queries

Essential
- Degree in Finance Accounting Business or a related discipline
- Approximately 23 years experience in an in-house accounts or finance assistant role
- Experience supporting bookkeeping or transactional accounting tasks
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Confident using accounting software and Excel for accounting spreadsheets
- Clear written and verbal communication skills work-level Mandarin speaking preferred
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
Desirable
- Experience working in a B2B product-based company
- Exposure to ERP or accounting systems (e.g. SAP Sage Xero NetSuite Dynamics or similar)
- Advance Excel skills like SUMIFs LOOKUPs and PIVOT TABLE
- Basic understanding of VAT and invoice compliance
- Part-qualified or studying towards AAT ACCA CIMA or similar (not essential)
