Subject to formal establishment a vacancy may arise for a Flight Sergeant OR7 (Any Profession) to serve as Flight Sergeant People & Families Support at RAF Honington on FTRS (LC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 04 May 2026.
The post is responsible to WO PFSpt and will work in close concert with other members of the stn People & Families Support team and local welfare agencies including SSAFA the HIVE Information Officer the Community Development Officer Padre unit Personal Support Staff and medical staff as appropriate.
The following outlines the requirements for this post:
Act as a 2-way channel of communication and develop mechanisms for listen to and representing the views feelings and needs of Service personnel and their families in SFA/SSFA.
Where individual welfare needs are identified signpost them to the most appropriate welfare agency.
Act as Champion for the SFA community both in their relationship with DIO and their industry partners and in representing their interests to the chain of doing the former you should ensure that individual occupants use the correct interfaces with Industry Partners to the full extent before any intervention on their behalf.
Where appropriate assist DIO in maintaining standards across your SFA estates working closely with Pinnacle Housing Officers and Amey/Vivo Industry Partners. Building a positive relationship with these staff is key.
Work closely with the relevant Pinnacle Allocations staff to ensure they are aware of the laydown of the unit and provide advice and input to e1132b (2nd offer refusal) forms.
Ensure that regular formal engagement/meetings take place between local DIO Area Managers/Industry Partner Local Client/Delivery Managers and the Stn Cdr/OC BSW and record the minutes of these meetings. Agenda items should include (but are not limited to) customer engagement ongoing issues project updates void reduction and patch management.
When necessary utilise your list of DIO and Industry Partner escalation contacts to seek support with any difficult/enduring SFA issues.
Managing personal information such as occupancy data voids details and moves in/out as provided to the SCSO by DIO through HQ AIR. The data is to be managed in accordance with GDPR protocols and not shared with any other personnel without the express permission of DIO.
Organising routine Families Consultative Groups/Town Halls for SP and their families on the SFA estate to provide direct feedback to DIO and their staff. Recording the detail of these meetings and where appropriate following up on issues reported with DIO and Industry Partners.
Working closely with the RAF Housing Colonels team to ensure there is a regular 2-way sharing of information including provision of regular updates to AIR on local performance to include arising trends/issues and engagement activity (Housing Clinics/FCGs).
Contribute to the annual Unit Community Needs Analysis process.
The day-to-day centre management of the community centre and soft play area acting as building custodian carrying out regular health and safety checks co ordinating repairs and ensuring compliance.
Supporting the delivery of community activities and events assisting in logistics set up and works closely with the wider team to maintain high standards of service safety and community engagement.
