The City of Topeka is seeking a skilled HVAC professional to work as a lead technician in the facility operations division. This incumbent is responsible for planning directing and performing a variety of work to ensure the adequate and efficient operation of heating ventilation and air-conditioning systems city-wide.
What youll do:
- Perform maintenance modifications and repairs to a variety of HVAC systems city-wide.
- Administer HVAC service contracts and work performed by contractors.
- Serve as a lead worker and technical expert on HVAC maintenance including training others in routine HVAC preventative tasks and safe work practices
- Maintain records collect compile and analyze data and prepare reports as required.
- Perform electrical and circuitry repairs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent is required.
- Graduation from an accredited vocational school with specialized training in air conditioning or closely related field is required.
- Must be a licensed refrigerant recovery system technician
- Must have three years of experience in the care and maintenance of HVAC systems with experience in maintaining commercial / industrial electrical and plumbing systems.
- Must have and maintain a valid Kansas drivers license and meet the Citys insurability requirements. Please review the insurability guidelines here.
- Experience as a safety trainer / coordinator highly desired as well as an inventory specialist.

Entry rate of pay: $19.84 - $20.75 per hour depending on qualifications
