Public Policy Project Manager - 18 month Fixed-Term Contract - Hybrid

This is a high-impact highly visible Public Policy Project Manager role focused on short-term rental (STR) regulatory compliance and implementation across France.
Reporting to the Public Policy Compliance & Partnerships Programme Manager you will play a critical role in project-managing complex regulatory and policy initiatives that directly affect Airbnbs platform hosts and listings across France. This work is closely monitored by senior EMEA leadership and has real tangible business and policy impact.
More precisely you will work on a broad range of regulatory compliance and partnership initiatives including European STR regulation data-sharing obligations registration and capping requirements Airbnbs City and Data Portals and tourism tax discussions.
The ideal candidate brings strong project management and execution skills as this role is approximately 75% focused on driving complex cross-functional projects linked to regulatory compliance and implementation. You also bring a solid public policy or regulatory foundation with the ability to engage confidently with public authorities and policy stakeholders. You are highly organised comfortable working in ambiguity and fluent in French with strong professional English.
This is an 18-month fixed-term contract with the potential to convert to a permanent role depending on business needs and individual performance.
A typical day:
- Monitor relevant news sources related to the ongoing regulatory discussions and key local markets overseen by the team and suggest actions in line with the latest developments.
- Demonstrates strong ownership and a keen ability to assess risk enabling effective prioritisation of the most impactful strategic projects (esp. with external stakeholders: consultants local associations political organisations etc.) without neglecting short-term requests and opportunistic tactics.
- Advise Airbnbs teams on public policy matters to guide development of compliance products and content.
- Manage the operational implementation of national and local policy proposals and legislative measures working with colleagues in a wide range of internal teams such as Legal Comms Sales Community and Product.
- Act as Airbnbs representative in meetings with government and political stakeholders in coalitions and collaborations to advance and communicate Airbnbs advocacy and compliance initiatives.
- Support the management of external consultants who provide on-the-ground support ensuring that they are properly briefed and that they meet deadlines and provide us with sufficient value.
Your expertise:
- At least five years of project-management experience working with political regulatory or compliance issues in a relevant business or non-governmental organization or in a political governmental or regulatory context. Ideally this experience has been built in travel urbanism or technology ;
- Experience of managing regulatory or compliance projects with multiple internal stakeholders. Highly organised and able to stay on top of multiple projects simultaneously;
- An eye for detail - with an ability to very quickly get up to speed on complex technical and regulatory issues. Eagerness to work in a multi-task environment while producing the highest caliber output in a timely manner.
- Proven ability to establish networks with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders;
- Excellent communicator with great interpersonal writing and presentation skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as on cross-functional projects displaying a true team spirit - the team you will be working with has a great dynamic built on trust team-player attitude and shared objectives.
