| Job Description: | - Provides case management and individual advocacy to all Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) clients and their families in UF Child Protection Team (CPT) catchment area. Provides evaluation and crisis counseling as needed for VOCA clients. Generates reports and releases medical results to appropriate agencies. Provides face to face information and referral to appropriate local resources for counseling and / or medical needs. Provides follow-up contact on all VOCA cases Functions as a coordinator of clinical programs by assisting medical staff with medical evaluations of allegedly abused and/or neglected children. Participates in a rotating on-call schedule to provide emergent services to VOCA clients 24/7. Provides coverage to satellite offices as needed. Provides victim compensation forms to all VOCA clients and their families and provides assistance in the completion of these forms.
- Serves as an intake coordinator for CPT. Participates in phone calls vetted from the Department of Children and Families Law Enforcement UF Health Medical and Social Work staff and other community partners of the UF CPT catchment area. Completes referrals in a state-wide data base or internal electronic file system by synthesizing information from multiple agencies (and databases) to review with medical staff team coordinator and other team personnel to determine appropriate assessments that are needed. Triages cases based on established criteria to determine best possible scheduling option. Reviews prior cases on families to determine current level of risk to the children in the home. Provide detailed yet concise clinical case information to the multidisciplinary team. Enters data timely and accurately in statewide data base using correct grammar and college level writing skills. Familiarized with Florida State Statue Chapter 39 and work closely with medical director or designee to consult on cases for exceptions to mandatory reports and referrals. Schedules needed assessments for families involved in Department of Children and Families and Law Enforcement investigations for multiple clinic sites utilizing shared Microsoft outlook calendars. Notifies all community partners involved with the case of appointment date and time. Completes rescheduling of appointments.
- Attends a variety of Community Meetings in the UF CPT catchment area. Including but not limited to Partnership Council meetings and Human Trafficking Task Force meetings.
- Maintains client records consistent with program requirements. Follow up with community partners to ensure CPT has provided all necessary services and documentation. Gather any additional information from community partners to assist with case closure. Participates in peer review and case staffings as needed. Tracks and records all VOCA cases and services to VOCA clients. Travels to outlying areas to provide court testimony as required and to conduct training to school age children. Must possess a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

| Preferred: | EDUCATION & TRAINING - BA or MA degree of psychology social work nursing or another behavioral science - Completion/certification in APSAC Forensic Interviewing training within one (1) year of employment -Completion of VOCA Victim Advocate designation training within one (1) year of employment EXPERIENCE - At least two (2) years of experience working with children and families (required) with one (1) year of that experience involving work with abused and neglected children KNOWLEDGE -Familiar with the Florida Child Welfare system SKILLS - Must use critical thinking to prioritize daily task and duties to ensure the needs of community partners and families in crisis are met. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Must have be able to navigate multiple job specific databases - Must possess college-level writing skills - Must be able to multi-task - Must type 35 CWM - Must pass PC skills test ABILITIES - Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergency critical or unusual situations - Ability to deal with periodic pressures and levels of responsibility - Ability to make independent judgments without supervision - Ability to make generalizations evaluations or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria - Ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions OTHER QUALIFICATIONS - Adaptability to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure - Twenty (20) hours continuing education is required per year during employment in this job. |
