Our Community Day Services:

  • This is our 100% community-based day program serving adults withdevelopmental disabilities. This program focuses on pre-vocational skills safe use of public transportation social skills practice and exploration of individual interests.

As a Community Guide you will be responsible for:

  • Meeting participants at a community hub each morning and facilitating the scheduled activities for the day including the use of public transportation.
  • Providing opportunities for the participants to develop socialization/interpersonal communication skills and practice self-regulation/coping techniques.
  • Providing hands-on training observation and evaluation of the participants pre-vocational skills and finding educational opportunities or classes to assist with further development.
  • Advocating for participants inclusion in the community and empowering them to exercise their rights.
  • Using BuildAbilitys digital program to log the individuals progress and performance.

Schedule:

  • Part-time (27 hours a week)
  • Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Work location:

  • Reseda

Compensation:

  • Starting at $19.00 - $22.00/hour (depending on prior experience and qualifications)

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities their family members employers and others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must pass a DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting background clearance.
  • Valid California Drivers License automobile insurance and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluent in Spanish.
  • Cultural awareness and adaptability.
  • Familiarity with the Los Angeles Metro system (MetroGo app route planning etc.).
  • Crisis management skills.
  • Prior experience supporting individuals with disabilities. If you dont have experience we will provide on-the-job training. Some of our best staff did not have experience prior to being hired at BuildAbility!
