We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk CouncilsClimate Change & Sustainability team as a Climate Change & Sustainability Project Support Officer.

The role:

The Climate Change & Sustainability Project Support Officer willwork as part of theClimate Change & Sustainability teamto support the delivery of projects within ourEnvironmental Impact Strategy. They will also provide administration and communications support for our wider sustainability activities.

We can offer a broad introduction to how climate change sustainability and nature restoration is being addressed by the public sector. The officer will have the unique opportunity to support in our response to the climate and nature emergencies in addition to helping enable those who live and work in our district to play their part too.

Key Responsibilities:

Project support: To provide project support for priority Climate Change and Sustainability Projects in theEast Suffolk Council Environmental Impact Strategy such as decarbonisation sustainable travel and habitat restoration.

Stakeholder engagement: To assist with engaging with our communities and other external stakeholders on climate change and environment topics plus respond to external and internal enquiries.

Communications: Support the delivery of our climate change and sustainability communications campaigns and activities such as social media our website newsletters plus organising and attending events.

Research: Research topics related toclimate change and sustainability and produce briefings for the team.

Internal engagement: To be involved in discussions with wider East Suffolk Council teams on key projects with related research / writing assignments.

Team support: To provide administrative support to the Climate Change and Sustainability team. This may includeorganising and attending meetings producing meeting summaries and compiling data.

What you will need:

This role requires someone with strong administrative IT and analytical skills. Although a formal qualification is not required we are seeking someone who can demonstrate a commitment to their own learning and development with a passion for nature and tackling climate change.

You will be working as part of a small team with clear guidance and direction however there will be a requirement to work autonomously and under your own initiative on allocated workstreams and projects.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are also key to this role.
