The Apprentice Engineer supports the designated leadership team by performing on-the-job training and assisting with the daily operations of building systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform on-the-job training requirements as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
- Satisfactorily complete training instructions in the following areas:
- Electrical Theory and Application
- Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
- Steam Plant Operations
- Pumping Systems
- Ventilating Systems
- Energy Management
- Electronics
- Basic Management Skills
- Assist in operating maintaining and repairing facility system equipment associated with HVAC mechanical and electrical systems.
- Respond to customer requests and submit/close work orders as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet requirements as prescribed in the Stationary Engineers Apprenticeship Program.
- Formal knowledge or training in HVAC components (e.g. VAVs air handlers pumps unit ventilators).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
- Computer skills and familiarity with building automation systems preferred.
- Certification meeting OSHA ACM awareness training requirements as required.
- EPA 608 Certification preferred.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
- Electronic information systems
- Steam and electrically driven rotating machinery
- Bench and portable tools
- Nondestructive test equipment
RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE:
- Practice safe work habits and maintain a safe work environment for self and others at all times.
- Promptly report any unsafe practices or conditions to the supervisor for immediate resolution.
