The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist with primary duties in Department of Radiography CT. Perform
Duties Include:
Operate adjust and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic equipment.
Maintain operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
Instruct trainees students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
Explain examination process to patients.
Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures
Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation I.V. placement vital sign monitoring and recording and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
Plan daily regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
Participate in on-call coverage.
Assist with inventory ordering supplies and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital departmental and clinical unit standards.
Participate in phantom human and/or animal research.
Maintain knowledge of technical developments software updates and related subjects by attending meetings continuing education programs and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public.

Education Required
Senior Imaging Technologist: A Bachelors degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Imaging Technologist: Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required
Experience Requirements (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist)
Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
Certification Requirements
Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required
Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
Desirable Qualification (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist)
Recent work or clinical education experience in CT.
CT modality training.
CT certification or eligible.
Work or clinical education experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
