Lipscomb Universitys School of Music in Nashville Tennessee invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Media and Film Composition beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses and applied lessons in media and film composition as well as related areas including theory orchestration and arranging. Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in additional areas such as orchestral conducting or instrumental performance. The candidate will provide both individual and group instruction and mentorship while maintaining an active and creative profile with regional national and international impact. This position will have the opportunity to collaborate with the College of Entertainment and the Arts professional incubation hub (Imagine House) involving both professional and student film and animation projects. Additional responsibilities include participating in School and University service such as committee work and assisting with student recruitment mentoring and community engagement.
Applicants should hold a masters degree (doctorate preferred) in Music Composition or a closely related field or possess equivalent professional experience. Candidates must demonstrate creative achievement and teaching effectiveness. Strong communication interpersonal skills and the ability to utilize relevant technology are essential.
