A vacancy has arisen for a Chief Technician Aircraft Technician Mechanical (Chf Tech ATM) to serve as Phase 2 and 3 Defence Trainer at DSAE RAF Cosford on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 02 March 2026 or earlier depending on individual circumstances.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of Engineer Officer Aero-systems Specialist Engineering Training (ASET) Air Systems Managers Training (ASMT) Trade Group 1 Technical Engineering and Asset Management Training (TEAMT) and the Senior Technician Airworthiness Course (STAC) Instructor (Phase 3) within No 2 School of Technical Training (No 2 SofTT) Engineer Management Training.
Directly responsible to OC No 2 SofTT this varied and challenging role incorporates (but not limited to):
- Defence Trainer duties delivering training to Engineering Officer ASET and ASMT courses specialising in delivery of Airworthiness and the management of engineering assets resources and workforce.
- STAC Defence Trainer duties specialising in Airworthiness in relation to aircraft air systems
- TEAMT Defence Trainer duties specialising in the delivery and management of Engineering Management and Leadership training to newly promoted TG1 aircraft technician Sgts.
- Management and compilation of course training documentation promoting airworthiness and conducting internal validations.
- Mentoring and coaching of all (EMTF) students including international students responsible for ensuring the Health and Safety at Work act 1974 and Environmental Protection Act 1990 are compliant.
- The command and control of ASET ASMT TEAMT and STAC students discipline morale and welfare.
- Mentoring and development of junior/newly arrived commissioned and NCO Defence Trainer to ensure the correct levels of lesson competency.
- Undertake lesson sponsor duties as a Subject Matter Expert responsible for maintaining lesson currency developing and reviewing lessons and updating lesson media.
- Promoting Diversity and Inclusion environmental protection quality Continuous Improvement and adhering to all associated policies.
- Ensuring all relevant orders and instructions are accurate and training documentation is correctly maintained.
