Job Overview

The Teacher Support Programme (TSP) is the British Council Egypts wellestablished training and mentoring programme for newly qualified teachers. The TSP includes regular input peer observations and observations and lesson planning support from an experienced trained mentor and the teachers have reduced teaching hours for the duration of the TSP. Input and observations are organised around different teaching skills and the programme works to build teachers skills confidence and independence. It is a fasttrack professional development programme with many teachers going on to doing a teaching Diploma soon after completing the TSP and there are now many TSP graduates in management positions around the British Council network

Role Purpose

  • To plan and deliver highquality EFL teaching to a range of learners using a variety of methods/channels.
  • To fully engage with the Teacher Support Programme through mentoring by Deltaqualified Teacher Mentors and attending INSETTs.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Plan prepare and deliver up to 20 hours of highquality English Teaching in the first year. During the second year of the contract after graduation from TSP teaching hours will be 25 hours per week of highquality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning styles.
  • Monitor student progress and provide ongoing feedback to support learner autonomy.
  • Contribute to the development evaluation and improvement of English language courses materials and related services to meet students needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team.
  • Complete teachingrelated administrative tasks to specified standards.
  • Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning and maintain the British Councils position at the forefront of best ELT practices.
  • In the initial 9 to 12 months of the contract TSP teachers undertake a training program (Teacher Support Programme).
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop evaluate and enhance English courses and materials.
  • Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:
    • Child Protection
    • Equality Diversity and Inclusion
    • Antibribery
    • Information management
    • Health and safety

Qualifications

Essentials

  • Bachelors degree (any discipline)
  • Cambridge CELTA or Trinity CertificateTESOL.


Work Experience

  • Postcertificate i.e. CELTA or Trinity CertificateTESOL experience

    Salary

    • Local salary: 15731EGP (Gross)

    Additional Information

    • As per applicable laws the British Council will deduct contributions from your EGP monthly salary at rates determined by the National Social Insurance Authority.
    • Annual leave allowance:35 days per year of paid leave plus a minimum 14 public holidays
    • Medical Insurance:You and your family will be covered with the Councils Group Medical Insurance offering comprehensive coverage.
    • Contract duration:2 years
    • Renewable period:1 year
    • Contracted working hours:37.5 per week.
    • Right to work in the country This opportunity is open to Egyptian nationals only. Work permits can only be obtained via the British Council for Egyptian passport holders.
