Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides respiratory care to patients in an acute care hospital setting specifically in adult critical care and emergency department environments. Responsibilities include airway management ventilator management and administering oxygen therapy. The role requires working 3x12 night shifts or 4x12s including every other weekend and participating in on-call duties as needed.

Responsibilities:

- Administer endotracheal tube/suctioning
- Perform extubation and intubation assists
- Place nasal airways and perform nasal airway suctioning
- Place oral airways and perform oropharyngeal/suctioning
- Collect sputum specimens
- Perform tracheostomy/suctioning
- Administer nebulizer treatments (handheld T-Piece trach collar)
- Administer oxygen therapy (bag and mask ET Tube High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) T-Piece Trach Collar Venturi Masks)
- Manage ventilators (BiPAP CPAP)
- Troubleshoot high-pressure alarms
- Wean patients from mechanical ventilation
- Float within scope to meet facility needs
- Document patient care in Cerner
Required Skills & Certifications:

- Minimum 1 year of experience
- BLS certification
- RRT certification
- Active state license
- Experience in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings
- Experience with Endotracheal tube/suctioning Extubation Intubation Assist Nasal airway placement Nasal airway suctioning Oral airway placement Oropharyngeal/suctioning Sputum specimen collection Tracheostomy/suctioning
- Experience with Handheld T-Piece Trach collar nebulizers
- Experience with Bag and mask ET Tube High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) T-Piece Trach Collar Venturi Masks for oxygen therapy
- Experience with BiPAP CPAP Troubleshooting high pressure alarms Weaning from mechanical ventilation
- Cerner experience
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Teaching Hospital Experience
- Community Hospital Experience
- Trauma Level I and II Experience
Special Considerations:

- On-call required as needed
- Will float within scope to meet facility needs
- May be required to work every other weekend
- Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen week assignment without pay
- Any solid color scrubs
Scheduling:
- 3x12 Nights or 4x12s (1800-0630)
- Every other weekend
- Discuss schedule requests with manager
- Block schedules may be accommodated
