Position: Welder / Fitter (Full-Time)

Position Overview

SPS West is seeking a full-time Welder/Fitter to support in-house fabrication of industrial equipment and assemblies. This role is hands-on and production-focused requiring strong TIG and MIG welding skills across carbon steel stainless steel and aluminum. Journeyman certification is not required; demonstrated skill reliability and pride in workmanship are non-negotiable.



Key Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG and MIG welding on carbon steel stainless steel and aluminum components

  • Fit tack and weld parts based on drawings sketches or verbal instructions

  • Fabricate small to medium-sized assemblies frames enclosures and custom components

  • Maintain weld quality to internal standards (appearance penetration consistency)

  • Work collaboratively with shop leads engineers and other trades

  • Assist with general fabrication tasks as required (cutting grinding drilling assembly)

  • Maintain a clean organized and safe work area

  • Follow shop safety procedures and quality expectations



Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong TIG and MIG welding experience (shop or industrial environment)

  • Proven ability to weld:

    • Carbon steel

    • Stainless steel

    • Aluminum

  • Ability to read basic fabrication drawings and measurements

  • Comfortable fitting parts before welding

  • Solid understanding of weld preparation joint types and distortion control

  • Reliable punctual and accountable



Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Experience with light structural fabrication or enclosures

  • Experience working with thin-gauge materials

  • Forklift or shop equipment experience

  • Pressure welding experience (not required)
