As we continue to scale-up our New Production Introduction we have an exciting new opportunity for a 12 month fixed term contract with our onsite Brockworth team near this role you will be part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team supporting the growing demand for new manufacturing systems focused on assembly and metallic components. You will play a critical role in ensuring design intent is accurately translated into robust production solutions contributing to the development of next-generation sustainable aviation technologies.

As a valued member of the Manufacturing Engineering department you will ensure that design for manufacturing remains a priority throughout the product development cycle. You will provide feedback to the design team resolve manufacturing challenges and deliver documentation tooling and training to enable efficient production in a clean and safe manufacturing environment.

This role will also benefit from experience or knowledge of hydraulic systems as these skills will support the team in delivering robust manufacturing solutions.

In this role you will be part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team supporting the growing demand for new manufacturing systems focused on assembly and metallic components. Responsibilities

  • Hands-on problem solving: Work directly with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve technical issues using data-driven approaches and structured methodologies.

  • Design collaboration: Influence design engineering to ensure manufacturability and assembly considerations are integrated throughout the product development process.

  • Process validation: Conduct hands-on trials and manufacturing of development parts to validate assembly metallic component and related processes and technologies.

  • Process development: Establish robust process parameters for new technologies and systems guiding manufacturing applications and feasibility studies.

  • Virtual manufacturing tools: Utilize simulation tools to model workflows automation sequences and space requirements informing capacity plans and resource allocation.

  • Lean solutions: Develop efficient equipment layouts process designs and product flows to maximize ROI and reduce costs per unit.

  • Automation and technology: Ensure process capability cycle time and equipment availability targets are met through automation and advanced technology integration.

  • Documentation and training: Define equipment lists spare requirements training needs work instructions and safety documentation for production and maintenance teams.

  • APQP and FMEA: Lead the rollout of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and cascade critical characteristics into internal and supplier quality systems.

  • System commissioning: Oversee installation and commissioning processes driving continuous improvement and root cause analysis to meet SQDC targets.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors degree or above in Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience in Technical Project/Program Management.

  • NPI experience: Proven experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) within manufacturing including project planning and execution.

  • Manufacturing expertise: Strong background in assembly and metallic component manufacturing including facilities development robotics automation and conveyor technologies.

  • Hydraulic systems knowledge: Understanding of hydraulic systems and their application in manufacturing processes.

  • Process optimization: Demonstrated ability to optimize processes for throughput quality and availability during design and commissioning phases.

  • Problem-solving methodologies: Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma 8D PPS RedX and APQP requirements.

  • FMEA and quality systems: Experience defining FMEAs cascading critical characteristics into control plans and developing manufacturing quality operating systems.

  • Supplier collaboration: Experience working with subcontracted suppliers and vendors.

  • Health & safety compliance: Knowledge of H&S and CDM regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Technical expertise: Familiarity with high-volume metallic manufacturing processes including machining forming and assembly.

Desired Skills

  • CAD proficiency: Experience with 3D Catia 2D AutoCAD or other CAD packages.

  • Hydraulic systems experience: Hands-on experience or knowledge of hydraulic systems including troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • Regulated industry experience: Background in highly regulated industries (preferably Aviation but not essential).

  • Advanced manufacturing tools: Knowledge of 3D printing rapid prototyping and virtual manufacturing simulation software.

  • Continuous improvement: Lean knowledge and a passion for driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • GD&T expertise: Ability to define and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.

  • Data-driven manufacturing: Experience incorporating condition-based monitoring and real-time data acquisition into manufacturing environments.
