Job Summary: The Server is responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences for hotel guests by providing efficient friendly and high-quality service in the hotels restaurant or banquet facilities. This role involves greeting guests taking food and beverage orders serving meals and ensuring guest satisfaction with their dining experience. Servers work closely with kitchen and bar staff to deliver a smooth enjoyable and memorable guest experience. Key Responsibilities: - Guest Service & Interaction:
- Greet guests in a friendly and welcoming manner ensuring a positive first impression.
- Provide menus answer questions about menu items and make recommendations based on guest preferences.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Ensure that guests food and beverage orders are served in a timely and efficient manner.
- Anticipate guest needs and offer assistance during the dining experience checking on guests regularly to ensure their satisfaction.
- Food & Beverage Delivery:
- Deliver food and beverages to guests ensuring all orders are complete and served in accordance with hotel standards.
- Monitor food presentation to ensure it meets hotel and guest expectations.
- Clear and clean tables promptly after guests have finished their meals and reset tables for the next guest.
- Ensure proper handling and presentation of alcoholic beverages according to company policies.
- Collaboration with Kitchen & Bar Staff:
- Communicate guest requests and special dietary needs to the kitchen and bar staff.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely delivery of orders and resolve any issues with food preparation or special requests.
- Coordinate with bartenders to ensure accurate and timely preparation and delivery of drinks.
- Handling Payments & Transactions:
- Process guest payments accurately including cash credit cards and room charges.
- Present checks to guests and collect payment ensuring a smooth and friendly transaction.
- Handle tips and gratuities in accordance with company policies.
- Health Safety and Sanitation Standards:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area including dining tables serving stations and floors.
- Ensure that food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed at all times including proper food handling storage and disposal.
- Follow all health and safety regulations including those related to alcohol service hygiene and cleanliness.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work as part of a team to ensure efficient service and a positive guest experience.
- Assist fellow servers kitchen staff and other hotel employees when necessary to provide exceptional service to guests.
- Report any issues or concerns to the supervisor or manager to resolve them quickly.
- Special Events & Banquet Service:
- Assist with set-up and breakdown of banquet functions and special events as needed.
- Ensure that banquet guests receive timely service and their dining experience is managed effectively.
Qualifications: - Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience as a server in a hotel or restaurant environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service procedures and basic menu knowledge is a plus.
- Alcohol service certification (where required by local law) is preferred.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with guests team members and management.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food and beverage offerings including the ability to recommend dishes and pair wines or beverages.
- Ability to handle customer complaints or concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Basic math skills for handling checks and payments.
- Personal Characteristics:
- Friendly outgoing and professional demeanor.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and a customer-focused approach to service.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
Physical Demands: - Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry trays plates and glasses (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to bend stoop and kneel as required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with flexibility in hours including evenings weekends and holidays.
