About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager Community & Indigenous Affairs (CIA) the Senior Advisor is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with Indigenous communities business partners municipal leaders and other key stakeholders connected to Cenovuss Christina Lake operations. The successful candidate will lead regulatory consultation efforts and ensure compliance with commitments outlined in Impact Benefit Agreements. They will also manage regional social investments ensuring reputation and community support are maintained.

Work Environment:

Successful candidates may work from surrounding communities aligned with designated travel hubs which include Calgary Edmonton Lac La Biche and Bonnyville Alberta.

This position will require travel to our Christina Lake operations and local communities. The successful candidate may be required to work outside of core working hours (evenings and weekends) on occasion to support community events and various team objectives (consultation meetings etc.). Expected travel will vary throughout the year and may be up to 7 days per month.

What youll do:

  • Lead regulatory consultation with Indigenous communities.

  • Maintain accurate records of engagement activities including summaries agendas/minutes consultation logs and contact lists.

  • Build strong relationships with Indigenous communities and internal/external stakeholders including local municipalities.

  • Support the Manager Community & Indigenous Affairs in implementing the Impact Benefit Agreements

  • Facilitate local Indigenous business participation in alignment with Cenovuss Indigenous Engagement Framework and ESG targets

  • Represent Cenovus at community events

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant cumulative experience in regulatory applications consultation Indigenous engagement community investment or community engagement

  • Experience with Indigenous communities is preferred

  • Post-secondary bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent

  • An understanding of the oil and gas industry preferably the provincial regulatory requirements specific to Indigenous consultation guidelines

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 drivers license a satisfactory driving record and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A drivers abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
