Sequoias Community College District is seeking a qualified and equity-minded candidate to fill a full-time face-to-face tenure-track position in the Computer Science Department beginning August 2026.
Assignments may include evening classes and teaching at any of the Sequoias Community College District Campuses: Visalia Hanford and/or Tulare. Participation in the governance of the Sequoias Community College District by way of committee assignments is encouraged.
*College of the Sequoias offers lecture-lab pay parity as well as overload and large lecture compensation that may be additional.

This faculty position includes teaching lower-division Computer Science courses in programming (Python and C) data structures discrete mathematics and computer architecture. The role will also require developing and revising curriculum to ensure relevance articulation and alignment with CSU/UC transfer addition we are looking for candidates capable of leading initiatives to grow the Computer Science program including developing new courses certificates and partnerships with local schools universities and industry. A successful candidate will support student success and equity through inclusive teaching practices and mentorship particularly for underrepresented groups in STEM.
Other responsibilities include maintenance of office hours active engagement with campus culture participation in departmental responsibilities and the willingness to create and participate in and sustain an atmosphere of equity which is respectful of diversity District wide.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate must meet the following criteria.
- Masters in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelors in either of the above AND Masters in mathematics cybernetics business administration accounting or engineering OR
- Bachelors in engineering AND Masters in cybernetics engineering mathematics or business administration OR
- Bachelors in mathematics AND Masters in cybernetics engineering mathematics or business administration OR
- Bachelors degree in any of the above AND a Masters degree in information science computer information systems or information systems OR
- The Equivalent.
JOB REQUIRED CORE SYSTEM COMPETENCY
The candidate must also demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students pursuant to Title 5 53022.

- Demonstrated leadership in developing or expanding academic programs tailored to the needs of the students in the community which may include familiarity with the educational needs of students pursuing careers in STEM.
- Experience assessing progress relative to goals and working with a team to implement improvements.
- Familiarity with modern instructional technologies and online learning platforms (Canvas GitHub Google Cloud etc.).
- Passion for staying at the forefront of Computer Science innovations including data analytics AI machine learning and cybersecurity.
- Experience collaborating with industry partners or advisory boards to align curriculum with STEM career and workforce needs.
- Desire to develop a 21st century Computer Science Program (in the evolving landscape of AI).
- Enthusiastic participation in professional responsibilities community and/or campus service.
- Successful experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and the ability to address the needs of frequently underprepared students.
