Job Description:
Join State as a Backend Engineer to build and maintain high-quality Laravel services and APIs. Youll architect scalable systems supporting GenAI integrations GIS and Knowledge Graphs helping make civic engagement intuitive participatory and accountable. This role connects citizens with their representatives and drives meaningful societal impact.

What you will do:

Design develop test and deploy scalable backend services and APIs using Laravel ensuring high concurrency and extensibility.
Architect and optimize systems supporting GenAI integrations GIS Knowledge Graphs and high-concurrency workloads.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product and AI teams to integrate LLMs vector retrieval and graph reasoning following best practices in code quality and observability.

The ideal candidate:

5 years of professional Laravel experience with PHP and databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis.
Hands-on experience with OpenAI or other LLM providers including model integration and vector retrieval.
Strong knowledge of unit testing frameworks (PHPUnit/Pest) scalable architecture patterns GIS systems and Knowledge Graphs.
