Reports to:Executive Director
Contract Duration:12 months with option to renew
Time Commitment:up to 12 hours/month
Location:Remote with occasional in-person meetings in Cambridge MA
About the Cambridge Nonprofit Coalition
The Cambridge Nonprofit Coalition (CNC) advances equity and justice in Cambridge through strengthening the Cambridge nonprofit sector building collective voice and promoting collaboration. CNC convenes and connects organizations advocates for policies that support the sector and the communities it serves and builds shared capacity through training research and partnership.
Communications Contractor Key Responsibilities
Content Development & Storytelling
Work cooperatively with CNC staff on content and storytelling deliverables including e-newsletters program updates sector stories partner highlights and communications related to events advocacy and coalition initiatives.
Craft compelling narratives that highlight the impact of Cambridge nonprofits and CNCs role as a sector convener.
In partnership with staff team and graphic designer lead production of CNC annual report
Manage CNCs website ensuring timely updates related to events resources job postings and policy work.
Develop and execute a social media strategy (primarily Facebook Instagram and LinkedIn) to increase reach and engagement.
Track analytics and recommend improvements.
Project Management & Strategy
Collaborate with CNCs Executive Director and staff to develop and implement communications calendar tied to CNC events advocacy cycles and member engagement.
Maintain segmented mailing lists ensuring accurate and up-to-date contact management.
Participate in regular check-ins providing clear updates on progress and timelines.
Monitor communications and nonprofit-sector trends to recommend strategies for strengthening engagement.
Qualifications
Required
We imagine this role will require 2-5 years of experience in communications marketing or related fields (nonprofit experience strongly preferred).
Excellent writer with the ability to distill complex policy and sector issues into clear accessible content.
Experience with website platforms () social media management and email marketing tools (e.g. MailChimp).
Strong project management organization and time-management skills
Commitment to racial equity community-centered practice and CNCs mission.

Contract Terms & Compensation
This is an independent contractor role; the contractor is responsible for their own equipment workspace and taxes.
Compensation: $35-$45 per hour depending on experience
Scope of work and deliverables will be finalized in a written agreement
