As a Marketplace Director/General Manager you will own the growth strategy for a diverse portfolio of categories including Computing Video Games Toys & Collectibles Transportation and more. You will define overall business objectives and lead day-to-day operations to achieve financial targets while delivering exceptional customer and seller experiences.In this role you will influence and drive initiatives that strengthen marketplace fundamentalsselection pricing speed and discoverability. You will lead a team of Account Managers responsible for partnering with sellers to build and execute strategies that deliver category revenue growth and best-in-class customer experiences. Success in this position requires a strong balance of strategic thinking leadership cross-functional collaboration and a bias for actionsomeone ready to roll up their sleeves on a growing team and build strategies and processes that accelerate the growth of the Best Buy Marketplace.This role is hybrid which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield Minnesota and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.What youll do- Define and execute the Marketplace category strategy including assortment planning seller acquisition targets pricing and promotions site experience services and more. Partner closely with 1P Category Teams to address assortment gaps and accelerate Best Buys market share.
- Develop annual and long-range financial plans and maintain accountability for monthly quarterly and annual forecasts and performance goals.
- Monitor and analyze category performance generating insights and actionable strategies to improve business results.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Onboarding teams to pitch and acquire strategic sellers accelerating their onboarding to the Best Buy Marketplace platform. Ensure robust inventory coverage and identify assortment opportunities to close gaps and expand offerings.
- Lead strategic seller relationships engaging directly with seller leadership to grow their business maintain competitive selection and influence investments in pricing and advertising.
- Create and execute a category marketing planincluding sale events site placements and promotionsto drive incremental traffic and GMV. Partner with the Best Buy Ads team to achieve ad revenue goals and increase seller adoption of retail media capabilities.
- Coach and develop a team of Account Managers to exceed account and revenue targets by setting clear direction and accountability that foster strong financial performance and build seller trust in the Best Buy platform.
- Champion Marketplace and Seller experiences across the organization working closely with internal teams to improve processes reporting and technology that advance the Best Buy Marketplace strategy and flywheel.
Basic qualifications- 10 or more years of experience in business management omni-channel category merchandising digital commerce or account management within retail or consumer products
- 5 or more years of experience in people leadership
- 4 or more years of experience in P&L management and oversight
Preferred qualifications- 5 or more years of experience in online marketplaces or e-commerce business operations
- 4 or more years of experience in strategic business planning and financial forecasting
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to close deals and drive revenue growth.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team and manage multiple priorities simultaneously to deliver positive business outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience leading developing and scaling teams in a growth environment
