Job Summary

Alcon is excited to host an immersive 4-day in-person externship development program designed for 30 high-potential students rising undergraduate sophomores and first-year masters students. The externship will focus on professional development learning about the R&D function and co-op and internship opportunities at Alcon. We believe diverse perspectives drive innovation at Alcon. We encourage all candidates with diverse thinking experiences and viewpoints to apply. We innovate boldly champion progress and act with speed as the global leader in eye care.
Participants will not perform services for Alcon.
In Person Location: Alcon headquarters in Fort Worth Texas
Duration: Monday August 10 2026 Thursday August 13 2026
Meals Hotel and Transportation in the US: Covered by Alcon
If you are selected to attend the Innovate Boldly Externship event you will have the opportunity to:
Participate in hands-on leadership development workshops
Enhance your technical skills and learn more about research & development at Alcon
Get advice and network with our ERG (Employee Resource Group) members
Complete a team case study
Attend developmental workshops panel discussions and networking sessions
You will receive an invitation to interview for a Summer 2027 Internship please note that not all interviews will result in employment offers
Application and Eligibility Requirements:
Externship is unpaid and not for credit
Expenses (travel hotel meals will be covered by Alcon)
Current rising undergraduate sophomores (graduating between December 2028 August 2029) and first-year masters candidates (graduating between December 2027 August 2029)
Strong academic performance current cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

The externship is not virtual
Must be able to participate in-person in Fort Worth TX on August 10 August 13 2026
Must be currently enrolled in university pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in one of the following degree programs:
Human Factors
Mechanical Engineering
Biomedical Engineering
Computer Science
Data Analytics
Data Science
Electrical Engineering
Statistics
Information Technology
Chemical Engineering
Software Engineering
Computer Engineering
The externship will be most beneficial to applicants who demonstrate the following:
Leadership strong initiative and decision-making skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Soft skills including a positive attitude flexibility and conflict resolution
Design thinking for products and enhancements
