Engineering Manager (BE) Template Search Quality team (ANZ Remote)

What youd be doing in this role

This role will see you:

• Leading and growing a high-performing team of backend and machine learning engineers

• Evolving the search architecture that connects users with the perfect template for their next project

• Delivering measurable improvements to search quality across surfaces like homepage and query-based discovery

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end user improvements

• Setting the technical direction for search ranking experimentation and platform evolution

• Ensuring excellence in engineering culture on-call health and stakeholder alignment

The Template Search Quality team sits within the Discovery Group at Canva. We build the systems that help millions of users find the perfect starting point for their next creation. From ranking pipelines to experimentation frameworks the team ensures our users see the most relevant high-quality templates for their needsacross styles formats languages and regions. This team plays a critical role in Canvas success by empowering users to go from idea to publish with confidence and creativity.
