Responsibilities

Patient Care Associate: Montrose PA Scranton PA Pittston PA

  • Greeting patients professionally both in person and on the phone
  • Quickly answering or properly referring questions and issues
  • Optimizing provider schedules and patient satisfaction with efficient scheduling
  • Notifying providers of patient arrivals
  • Comforting patients by anticipating anxieties and effectively answering questions
  • Ensuring availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records
  • Verifying financial records and collecting patient charges while filing and expediting third-party claims
  • Maintaining office inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and expediting supply orders
  • Provide excellent customer service

Registered Nurse (PRN) and (Regular-PT): NEI Ambulatory Surgery Center Scranton PA

  • Demonstrates necessary practical technical or specialized knowledge and skills required for the role of the peri-operative nurse in accordance with AORN and other regulatory standards of practice.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and has the ability to oversee the instrument and equipment set-up prepare for the case utilizing preference cards and anticipates needs of surgeon.
  • Coordinates and oversees the room during a case as the circulator.
  • Facilitates effective and efficient transition between surgical procedures.
  • Utilizes preference cards and updates as necessary.
  • Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in moving patients stretchers and OR tables to prevent injury to patient and self.
  • Demonstrates knowledge/understanding of management of patient including being available to anesthesia during intubation and extubating assisting as needed in sudden changes in patient condition i.e. cardiopulmonary arrest Malignant Hyperthermia etc. and being readily available to assist as directed.
  • Performs thorough patient interview and assessment in accordance with procedure and assures an appropriate detailed time out process is done according to policy.
  • Consistently reviews charts for completeness in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after the surgical procedure. Assures appropriate consent H/P diagnostic reports and relevant information are on chart prior to the start of procedure.
  • Ensures that H/P is a complete full examination of all body systems and dated within 30-days prior to procedure.
  • Ensures that H/P orders for the procedure and consent form are consistent prior to placing in medical chart.
  • Prepares and administers medications in accordance with current practice (i.e. review physician orders pre-op antibiotics preparing/labeling medications on/off field utilizing the 7 medication rights identifying high alert medications conducting independent double checks when indicated and narcotic waste etc.). Assures only licensed personnel administer medications.
  • Relays appropriate hand off communication to PACU staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Performs nurse circulator duties as assigned.

Ophthalmic Technician: Scranton PA

  • Collect and document detailed medical and ocular histories ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic and vision function tests including: Applanation tonometry Refraction
    Retinoscopy.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment such as the Humphrey Field Analyzer and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to capture eye measurements and assist in patient evaluations.
  • Prepare patients for eye exams by administering dilating drops and providing clear instructions.
  • Report any changes in a patients visual acuity or symptoms to the ophthalmologist.
  • Educate patients on the proper use and care of eye drops medications and contact lenses.
  • Assist with inventory management and exam room supply maintenance.
  • Support clinical staff with additional administrative or clinical tasks as needed.

Surgical Technician (Regular -PT): NEI Ambulatory Surgery Center Scranton PA

  • Prepare and organize the operating room equipment instruments and supplies as required for various surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during a procedure
  • Take care of specimens prepare check and monitor medications and assist with dressings.
  • Set up a sterile and sanitary environment and maintain the sterile field for the patient during procedures.
  • Utilize correct body mechanics in moving transporting and positioning patients stretchers and/or tables to prevent injury to patients.
  • Follow relevant safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Participate in orientation and education of all operating room staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in stocking and restocking medical supplies.
  • Inspect replace and sterilize medical instruments.
  • Provide surgeons and patients with necessary instruments supplies and equipment.
  • Patient First mindset in providing the highest level of care.

Qualifications

What You Will Bring:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Be highly organized and able to handle various tasks and responsibilities efficiently with high quality and energy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidential employee and company information.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and work independently.
  • Apply exceptional communication skills to interact with patients and schedule appointments and surgeries.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Ability to Scribe is a PLUS!
  • Customer service background
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records software is a plus.
  • Experience in healthcare is preferred
  • Completing an accredited Medical Assistant or Ophthalmic Technician program (COA COT or MA certification) is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

  • Previous experience in ophthalmology optometry or as a medical assistant or scribe is strongly preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

  • Certification as a surgical technologist is required. (Surgical Tech)
  • A current Basic Life Support certificate is required. (Surgical Tech)
  • Ability to interact comfortably with a high volume of patients families and staff in a stressful environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment and supplies located in the operating room.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in an operating room setting; preferably in ophthalmology. (RN)
  • Active RN license as required by state of employment or appropriate compact licensure. (RN)
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. (RN)
  • Valid BCLS & ACLS Certifications required upon employment (Must be through American Heart Association online certification not acceptable). (RN)
