Job Summary
The Data Platform and Engineering team is seeking an innovative Engineer II who wants to make a huge impact in the digital evolution and help in building key technology initiatives that would fuel Best Buys future business growths. The Engineer II will focus on providing engineering and operations for existing and future integration and dataflow platforms. They will work closely with the Best Buy application teams that leverage these platforms in both the data centers and public clouds.
The engineer in this role will deliver on building an enterprise data platform and/or migrating subject area development goals contributing to evolving use of data and decision intelligence led solutions for solving problems and scale the impact of data through development of scalable cloud native services.
This role is hybrid which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. For this role you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield Minnesota.
What Youll Do

What Youll Do
- Develop data pipelines in Google Cloud Platform with tools/features such as Big Query Composer Dataflow and Cloud Run.
- Develop business acumen to assist in designing and planning business-driven features of data assets and layers.
- Participates in and leads production support situations to help ensure data quality consistency and reliability.
- Creates and improves reusable internal libraries and tools to help the team deliver reliably and consistently.
Basic Qualifications
- 2 years of relevant data acquisition and development experience with a bachelors degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
- 1 years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including Big Query Composer Dataflow and/or Cloud Run
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of relevant professional experience
- Bachelors degree in IT Computer Science Engineering or related field
- Relevant engineering experience such as software development; critical reasoning skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders; experience delivering quality engineering outcomes
- 3 or more years of experience with tools such as Informatica / Message Broker/Apache Nifi / Google Dataflow / Google Cloud Function or similar
- 1 or more years of development experience with languages like Python SQL and/or Java
- Experience working with marketing/advertising related data
- Teradata experience
- Excellent communication skills especially when working with a distributed team
