Farmer Forester Chef! is a day camplocatedat historicPowissetFarm in Dover is a 109-acre working CSA vegetable farm with a vibrant learning garden barnyard animals culinaryprogramfor all ages scenic trails engaging education programs and deep history that make this a special place to visit and work.

The Role:

As a Camp Educator you are energetic fun approachable inclusive smartand have leadership qualities. You are ready to teach children how the farm forests and fresh food are all interconnected via hands-on activities in the barnyard teaching kitchen and during exploratory activities in the fields and forests ofPowissetFarm.

Each day beginsat 9AMbyenthusiasticallygreeting campers and moves quickly to learning and fun!As aCamp Educator youare responsible forplanning outdoor nature and agriculture related activitiesandpartner with livestock and kitchen staff on regular daily activities including barn chores and cooking classes. Pick up at 3PM is filled with stories of the daysadventures.

Thisis a full-time seasonal rolereporting totheCamp Director. The typical schedule is a 37-hour work week Monday through Friday for the nine-week season. Camp runs for eight weeks from June 22August 14plus a staff trainingweekJune areprimarily responsible for planning and directing camp activities and direct supervision of their camper group (ages 6-11).

Specifically youll:

• Supervise educate and care forcampers.
• Design and implement camp curriculum and activities based on farming food sustainability and the natural world with support from staff and farm resources.
• Plan daily developmentallyappropriate activitiesand farm projects withcampteam.
• Lead daily plant and animal farm chores and nature activities with designated age groups between ages 6 and to lead daily plant and animal farm chores and nature activities with designated age groups between ages 12-14.
• Communicate with camper parentsregardingcamp questions and basic camper information.
• Perform daily camp staff chores to organizeprepare for and close outeach day.
• Ensuresafetyof campers and staff by closely following established protocols.
• Meet periodically with Camp Director to evaluate experience and performance.
• Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

This is aseasonalpositionworking 35-40 hours/week andreporting directly tothePowissetCamp Director.

What Youll Need:

Skills and Experience:

• Holding or working toward aBachelors degree in environmentalor agricultural education the sciences education or other relevant course of study is preferred but notrequired.
• Experience working as a camp counselor classroom teacher informal educator and/or childcare provider with children ages6-11.
• A special interest in outdoor educationorworking on a farmor in a kitchen
• A willingness to learnbringingpassion and enthusiasm toworkingwith young people each day.
• CPR and Basic First Aid certificationsrequired; an on-site trainingoptionwill be provided.
• A desire and ability to share your passion for the natural world with children from diverse backgrounds.
• A great attitude about working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• A terrific sense of humor!
• The ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Reliable transportation to camp.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be 18 years of ageby the first day of camp
• Full availability for camp staff training week and all weeks of camp (June 15August 14) -9 weeksin total.
• Current authorization to work in the United Statesby thefirst day of employment.
• A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
