Duties
- The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of PerformSpecialty Pharmacy the states professional standards and other regulatory entities. The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and assists in the dispensing process by performing data entry prescription preparation claims processing labeling packaging packing and delivery of medications and related services to patients..
Job Responsibilities for the front-end pharmacy technician include::
- Accurately enters data into pharmacy computer system so that appropriate paperwork is generated.
- Entering and processing new and refill prescriptions supply and equipment requests while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Contacting prescribers for new prescriptions refill authorizations and clarifications.
- Receiving calls from prescribers and patients resolving their requests.
- Selecting appropriate supplies and ancillaries based on medication requirements patient need and preference.
- Forwarding typed orders to Pharmacist for verification and/or clarification.
- Adjudicating pharmacy claims.
- Providing excellent customer service to patients internal and external customers.
Additional duties include but not limited to:
- Filling patient orders accurately by selecting and retrieving the appropriate medications verifying quantities and preparing prescription labels for medications and related supplies.
- Ensuring client specific materials are paired with order and prepare for shipment.
- The technician assists in the shipping process by selecting appropriate packing materials and packing method generating shipping labels.
- Prior to the end of their shift or as scheduled clean dispensing area equipment and replenish workstation supplies.
- Contacting patients caregivers and/or prescribers to schedule deliveries.
- Performs additional duties as assigned as related to the practice of pharmacy which do not require a pharmacists professional judgement.
Skills:
- Three to five years
- pharmacy experience Understands drug terminology and therapies/services provided in specialty pharmacy.
- Understands and can perform intermediate pharmaceutical calculations in order to obtain correct doses of medications.
- Understands the broader organizational structure and the scope of services the company has to offer.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
- Observes legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding the confidentiality of patient and proprietary company information.
- Understands and complies with HIPAA.
- Participates in the process for assessing managing and reporting medication-related incidents and equipment error and/or failures.
- Accurately completes quality assurance forms and forwards them to the supervising pharmacist.
- In all activities complies with accreditation legal regulatory and safety requirements.
- Participates in on-call responsibilities of the pharmacy department if required.
Education
- High School/GED
- State of FL License Required
