Description

We are searching for a Nurse Practitioner for Maternal Fetal Medicine someone who works well in a fast-paced this position you will practice in an advanced role to provide care for obstetrics and/or gynecological patients. Includes but is not limited to outpatient roles in pre-natal care well woman and gynecology services as well as inpatient roles such as rounding or assisting the physicians with deliveries and surgical procedures. The nurse practitioner (NP) works under a delineation of clinical privileges and works collaboratively with other members of the health care team. Practicing under established guidelines and clinical protocols the NP assumes independent and interdependent responsibilities in the assessment diagnosis and initiation of treatment and procedures. As an advanced practice nurse the NP is responsible for education research consultation and evaluation of clinical practice at various levels.

Qualifications:
Required masters degree Science in Nursing -For employees hired with Texas Childrens before 03/01/17 an MSN is required for NPs licensed 01/01/03 or after. -For employees hired with Texas Childrens before 03/01/17 either an MSN or a certificate program is required for NPs licensed prior to 01/01/03.
Required Licenses/Certifications
oRN - Lic-Registered Nurses by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact
oNP - Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing
oFNP - Cert-Family Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing OR WHNP-BC - Cert-Womens Health Care NP by the Texas Board of Nursing

*3-5 years of experience as an RN in L&D and 3-5 years of Nurse Practitioner experience in OB or maternal fetal medicine is strongly preferred.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Daily uses advanced practice knowledge and skills to systematically collect and evaluate health assessment data and manage patients caseload.
Obtains a comprehensive health developmental and family history on patients as documented in the patients medical record.
Assess the patients physical status through the physical examination as documented in the patients medical record.
Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings as documented in the patients medical record.
Performs or recommends age-appropriate health screening procedures as documented in the patients medical record.
Provides health maintenance and health promotion for women of all ages as documented in the patients medical record.
Performs and evaluates diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests as documented in the patients medical record.
Analyzes multiple sources of data and formulates a differential diagnosis in collaboration with physicians as demonstrated in the written documentation.
Follows established delegation protocols to manage specific patient problems.
Formulates a plan of care in collaboration with other health care professionals and documents the plan in the patients medical record.
Accurately evaluates patients responses to interventions and modifies the plan of care demonstrated by written documentation.
Consistently demonstrates effective communication skills and works to eliminate communication barriers.
Consistently serves as an educational resource for the patient and family community and other health care professionals.
Consistently applies new knowledge relevant to clinical practice.
Demonstrates current professional managerial and/or technical knowledge and skills.
Demonstrates NP role behaviors consistent with the development of advanced nursing practice.
Participates in departmental Quality Improvement program annually. Participates in at least one QI aspect of care which shows improvement related to patient outcome.
